Vivi Papi photographed the church of Santo Stefano di Bizzozero between 1970 and 1978, documenting the renovation projects and works overseen by arch. Bruno Ravasi with both overall views and details.
He portrayed workers posing in front of the building and eventually photographed some of the restored works (nearly all documentation is on black/white film in formats ranging from 24x36 mm to 13x18 cm, while images of the works at the end of the project are on negative and/or 6x7 or 10x12 cm color slides).
Later, in 1990, commissioned by ISAL (Institute for the History of Art in Lombardy), he documented (on 135 mm film, color slide and black/white negative), the late Gothic part of the frescoes (ciborium and triumphal arch) also in small details, obtaining to make for each image an additional shot that he could keep in his personal archive. In 1994, on behalf of a scholar, he photographed (on color negative and 135 mm color slide) the individual frescoes in the apse and a few wider views. In this case, only the right to use the images was transferred to the scholar, and they remained the property of the photographer.
